Coban's Muay Thai Camp
New York, NY

Owner: Coban Lookchaomaesaithong

“What makes a good coach? Complete dedication.” George Halas

It is said at Coban’s Muay Thai Camp, you don’t train AT Coban’s, you train WITH Coban. In 2011, after being the head coach in many gyms from East to West Coast, legendary fighter Coban Lookchaomaesaithong decided to open his own gym in New York, NY. At the time, Coban was teaching out of a rented space per hour. After teaching his classes he would to go the gym to build it. Within 3 and half weeks, Coban had finished building the entire gym with his own hands and many of his dedicated fighters.

Coban had started training at the age of 11 years old, with a homemade heavy bag made out of a canvas bag filled with sawdust and rice hull and gloves made out of old clothes. His first fight was at a fair at a Buddhist temple. The fight resulted in a draw but that didn’t keep Coban from quitting. He continued to fight and improve. By the end of his fighting career, Coban had over 270 fights and has been a 2-time Lumpinee and 5-time World Champion.

Coban’s Muay Thai Camp is like an authentic Muay Tai camp, as much as possible. Old school, the traditional way. In May 2012, they teamed up with Team Alliance and started offering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, headed by Fabrio Clemente and Babs Olusanmokun. Both Gi and No-Gi classes are offered. They are in the process of training new, tough fighters and getting them ready for the ring, with top fighter Manny Casais leading the way.

Coban’s gym is run by the legend and true champion himself. You will see Coban teaching all of the classes himself and dedicating his time and sharing his knowledge of the sport. Kickboxing or watered down Muay Thai isn’t taught here. Coban teaches authentic Muay Thai. A real legend teaching the real deal.
