WKA USA North American Combat
Sports Championships 2009
On June 26
- 27, 2009, the Combat Sports League sanctioned by the
World Kickboxing Association - USA will host an
elimination tournament to determine the best fighters in
North America and to select members for the WKA US
National Team, which will qualify to represent the U.S.
at the WKA World Championships. As the WKA US Nationals
grew along with WKA promoters, it was a natural next
step to open the event to our Canadian and Mexican
neighbors, as well as competitors throughout the world.
The 2009
North Americans will feature the top amateurs from
around the world, challenging for the WKA NORTH AMERICAN
TITLE. This event will feature both Open and Novice
divisions in Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Mission Submission will be hosting the Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu/Submission Grappling portion of the
tournament, which will have men’s, women’s, masters’,
teens’, and children’s divisions.
More than
one hundred and fifty fighters from over forty schools
in fifteen states competed in last year’s tournament,
which was a great success and produced many champions.
The WKA looks forward to an even bigger turnout this
year.
