Fighter
of the Month, Wayne Barrett, recently signed to the
co-main event in GLORY 12 New York, versus GLORY
Middleweight Champion, Joe Schilling, who recently
defeated Artem Levin to take the GLORY Middleweight
Tournament Championship.
Originally from
Georgia, Wayne now lives and trains in Queens, NY
under Kru Rob Rogan at Square Circle New York for his
Muay Thai. Wayne’s additional coaches are Jason Strout
(Boxing) and TJ Lopez (Strength and Conditioning). He
started training martial arts when he was 5 years old
after watching karate movies as a kid and dreamed
about becoming a kung fu master or samurai.
With an
amateur record of 19-1 and 15 KO’s and a professional
record 3-0, with all 3 wins by KO, the former amateur
WKA US Champion and Georgia Golden Gloves State
Champion, has been making a big name for himself on
the GLORY Sport’s International (GSI) circuit. As an
amateur fighter, Wayne has been ever present competing
at WKA sanctioned events, including Take-On
Promotions, Friday Night Fights, & Bangkok Fight
Night.
With big wins at both Glory 9 over Road
to Glory winner Mike Lemaire and Glory 10’s KO over
Robby Plotkin has moved his ranking to #6 in the Glory
Middleweight division. Wayne is looking to move up in
those ranks to become #1 in his weight division while
retaining his undefeated record.
